A Night with an Angel

It is hard for me say the exact moment when my heart; knew it would do anything for you.
But I do know that on that first night I felt the love of an angel that came from you.
Was it that night when in your eyes, I saw an angels light shine so true.
Looking at you on that night my senses, went numb as you smiled.
That first time you held my hand, resting your head on my shoulder as we left my heart skipped a beat.
Was it that moment this crime was committed; was in that moment when my heart became a victim to a crime of theft?
On that night as we went to hear music and dance; I could not help but to stare, as I hung on every word you said.
You were nervous to meet my friends, but I assured you that you would be welcomed by all.
With you standing by my side, I walked proud and tall,
Knowing I had you by my side.
Could it have been when we stepped out to smoke, and you grabbed me holding me in your angelic arms?
I knew in that moment I would protect you from all harms.

Yes on that September night I lost my heart on my first date with an angel as lovely as you.
Our first night was filled with wondrous joy; and endless happiness.
As it was my honor to share this perfect night with a perfect lady.
The songs that played were seemingly meant for you and me.
All other conversations faded away as you were, my only thought, my only wish was this night to never end.
You danced and moved so happy and free.
Do you remember the look of surprise when you looked over to me and softly said “Thank you.”
For what reason I still do not know, it was I that should have thanked you.
For showing me the joys a lady can bring.
For another night like that I would wait all of eternity, to have just one more night like that with you.
From that night till now you have been my puppet master taking care of the gentle strings of my minding heart.
Watching you laugh and having fun burned a picture into my soul of timeless art.
To this day you still believe in me knowing this I reach out for you.
Holding on to the faith you have for me; has made me a better man.
All from one night, one magical night I was granted the honor of one night spent with an angel.
I thank you for that memory of when your love was given to me, and my heart was lost now belonging to you.
Standing outside holding you close to me, keeping you warm from the cold for that brief moment in time two hearts beat as one.

Do you still remember how we held each other on that night; when I looked into your eyes then we shared a soft kiss?
Over come with joy I picked you up and twirled you around in that parking lot.
I thank you for standing by a man that had nothing.
For believing in me, when no one else did.
We have picked each other up when we were lost.
You have become my closest friend and so much more.
From that first night till now I thank and love you.
You gave me hope to want to live in happiness; you gave me the strength to want, and strive for a better life shared with you and me.


For the first time in a long time I feel again; for the first time I am alive, and its all do to that September’s night I spent with an angel.
